Sophomore Paige Meyer, who scored 520 points during her freshman season last year, started her sophomore year with a big night, scoring 33 points including the game winning three-pointer at the buzzer which sent the Huskies into the win column with a 50-47 victory over Fergus Falls on their home court.

"She's a great player and she made a great shot for them," commented Fergus Falls Head Coach Brad Strand.  "I thought we played pretty good defense for the most part, but we need to improve our offensive execution and work harder at taking care of the ball."

Ellie Colbeck (21 points, 6 rebounds) scored the first ten points of the night for the Otters as they took an early 10-2 lead, which grew to 15-6 midway through the first half.  It was 20-16 at the half, but Albany scored the first seven points of the second half and held a pair of five point leads during the second half of play.  The lead changed hands five times and the game was tied four times.

Fergus Falls shot 40% for the night, making 9-of-19 (47%) two-pointers and 8-of-24 (33%) three's.  Albany shot 45%, including 43% (6/14) from beyond the arc.

Tori Ratz (13 points) joined Colbeck in double digits and Sam Evavold added seven points.  The Huskies held Lily Pearson scoreless on the night, however, the senior post player led the Otters with 13 rebounds and added 3 blocked shots.  Sabrina Fronning finished with 5 assists.

The Huskies stymied the Otter offense with their 2-3 zone defense, deflecting many passes and causing several of their 26 turnovers.

Fergus Falls will host Bemidji in their home opener on Thursday night.

The JV team won 33-21 with Anna Anderson scoring a team high 9 points.  In the B game, Emily Nuss had 13 and Ainsley Hansen added 10 as the Otters posted a 43-23 victory.
