Sam Lange takes the reigns for a second year as head coach of the Brandon-Evansville girls basketball team. The Chargers finished with a 12-13 mark a year ago and were a very competitive 8-4 against Little Eight Conference opponents.

“Our underclassmen stepped up in tough situations and showed improvement throughout the year,” said Lange. “We have a much more experienced team coming into this season and our biggest strength will be our defense. What we need to improve on most from last season is limiting turnovers. We have a very tough conference and section so we will be challenged all year long.”

Returning letter winners include seniors Sara Jacobson (PG), Madison Quinn (F) and Kerryn Lund (C), juniors Haddey Zastrow (G), Brittany Korkowski (G) and Kristen Kokett (G), and sophomore Mikenna Pattrin (F). Jacobson, Lund and Quinn will serve as team captains.

Senior Megan Lauthen (F) is coming off an injury and should be able to fill a role in the varsity lineup. Other prospects are juniors Maddie Otto (F), Kaille Klimek(G) and Caitlyn Deschene (G), and sophomores Bailey Schaefer (G), London Suchy (G), Korrie Randt (G) and Kaylee Bitzan (G).

Lange is assisted by Tim Pattrin and Jordyn Campbell. He sees Underwood and Parkers Prairie as top teams in the Little Eight Conference and in Section 6A, with Ada-Borup, New York Mills, Park Christian School, Pelican Rapids and West Central Area adding to a mix of talented teams in a challenging section.
