Perham Compiles 503 Yards of Offense in Win Over Two Harbors

The Perham Yellowjackets won their Class AAA State Quarterfinal matchup with Two Harbors on Saturday in Brainerd, beating the Agates by the score of 48-17. 

 

Jenson Beachy had another big day for Perham, running for 144 yards on 14 carries and scoring two touchdowns, and passing for 181 yards and three scores, completing 9-of-13 attempts. Perham finished with 294 rushing yards and 209 passing yards for 503 yards of total offense. Josh Jeziorski was the top receiver with four catches for 81 yards, including a pair of TDs. 

Perham scored on the first play of the day when Beachy connected with Finn Diggins on a 66 yard pass play. Beachy then carried the ball into the end zone for the two point conversion and the Yellowjackets led 8-0 just seventeen seconds into the contest. A 27-yard field goal by Ryan Nowacki got the Agates on the board with 2:27 left in the first quarter, however, Perham punched it in as time expired in the quarter on a 4 yard run by Beachy. Beachy hit Jeziorski with the two-point conversion pass and the Yellowjackets had a 16-3 lead after the first quarter. 

Ty Moser hauled in a 20 yard pass from Beachy with 8:39 left in the half, giving Perham a 22-3 lead. A one-yard run by Ricky Brenna with 1:55 remaining in the half, followed by an extra point kick by Nowacki, brought Two Harbers to within 22-10, but Beachy then hooked up with Jeziorski for a 28 yard TD and the ‘Jackets built their halftime lead to 28-10. 

In the third quarter Perham increased their lead to 42-10 on a 17 yard Beachy run and a 35 yard pass from Beachy to Jeziorski. 

Finn Diggins took the ball in from the three yard line with 3:02 remaining in the game and Sam Johnson broke loose for a 71 yard run for Two Harbors with just two minutes left in the game, closing out the scoring. Johnson led the Agates in rushing with 90 yards on 11 attempts and Brenna finished with 88 yards on 24 carries. 

Perham will now face fifth ranked Fairmont in the Class AAA semifinals on Saturday at 4:30pm at US Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis.
