The Section 8AA champion Barnesville Trojans won their fourth straight game on Friday night in Brainerd and they did so in convincing fashion with a 40-0 state quarterfinal round victory over Moose Lake-Willow River.  The Trojans forced six turnovers in the contest and received touchdowns from five different players.

The two teams exchanged fumbles on their initial possessions of the game, but on their second possession of the night Barnesville scored on a 61-yard run by quarterback Adam Tonsfeldt with 4:51 to play in the first quarter.  Grant Innigerhauled in a deflected pass for the two-point conversion to give the Trojans an 8-0 lead.

A Tonsfeldt interception gave the Trojans the ball on the Rebels 34 yard line and five plays later Kellen Hinsz took the ball into the end zone from the fourteen yard line, increasing the Barnesville lead to 14-0 with just four seconds left in the quarter.

Barnesville got good pressure on the punter and actually got a hand on the kick, resulting in their taking possession at the Moose Lake-Willow River 37 yard line.  Eight plays later Hunter Anderson scored on a one yard run and the Trojans led 20-0 with 6:50 to play in the first half.

Brady Watrin interception gave the Rebels the ball near midfield late in the first half, however, a fumble was snatched out of the air and returned 75 yards for a touchdown by Joey Mark.  Preston Snobl added the two point conversion and Barnesville took a 28-0 lead into halftime.

Barnesville added a one yard TD run by Tonsfeldt in the third and a 35 yard touchdown run by Nick Detloff in the fourth to put the final score at 40-0.

Tonsfeldt, who had two interceptions in the game, also led the Trojans with 138 rushing yards on 15 carries.  Chase Brenner had 98 yards on 11 attempts and Aaron Schiefert carried the ball three times for 58 yards.  Detloff finished with 61 yards on 9 attempts and Hinsz had 49 yards on 7 carries.

Barnesville ran for 413 yards in the game and added 9 passing yards for 422 yards of total offense.

Defensively, Barnesville held Moose Lake-Willow River to 118 rushing yards and 172 yards of total offense.  They were led by Brooks Martinson (9 tackles), Adam O'Brien (7 tackles, 1 interception), Hunter Zenzen (9 tackles), Hunter Anderson (9 tackles) and Brady Kroll (fumble recovery, 2 tackles).

"I felt we played a very solid game," said Head Coach Bryan Strand of the Trojans.  "Our kids were prepared and they played with a ton of confidence.  Adam Tonsfeldt played another outstanding game.  He is hard to see and does such a great job hiding the ball that one can never truly tell if he has it or not.  I could go on and on about who played well, but truly it was the entire theam that played well from our specials to the O and D.  We lost one of our best sophomores in the game as Aaron Schiefert, who broke his collarbone on our last offensive play of the game.  He was really stepping up for us and will be a great player in the future.  He will be missed the next couple of weeks.  I do want to say I have the Best coaching staff around.  They put in the hours last week and it paid off.  Our kids were ready and that is a testament to the guys I have working around me.  They are the best around!"

The Trojans (10-2) will now play Minneapolis North Community High School (11-0) at 11:30am Friday at US Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis.  North defeated Redwood Valley 20-12 in New Ulm on Friday night.

"We will have our hands full this week going against North who is the #1 QRF team in our class by a lot," noted Strand.  "I am going to say they will have trouble with our style of offense as I doubt they have see it before.  I have heard that they have good skill position players and a great QB so we will need to be at the top of our game.  Every game now is a blessing and I feel that if we play well and prepare well we could find ourselves in that state championship game over Thanksgiving weekend!"
