The Rothsay Tigers traveled to Bertha-Hewitt to line up against the Bears in the regular season finale for both teams on Friday night. Bertha-Hewitt took a 32-6 halftime lead on the way to a 52-12 victory.

The Tiger offense started the night with the ball with good field position on the 43 yard line but an interception return to the end zone and a two point conversion gave the Bears an 8-0 lead.

On their next possession Rothsay would drive all the way down to the 3 yard line but get stopped on the goal line giving the Bears their first possession on their own 1 yard line.  The Bears were unable to move the ball against the Rothsay defense and were forced to punt the ball.  The Tigers took advantage and found the end zone on a 28 yard touchdown run but failed on the two point conversion attempt, trailing 8-6.

On their first offensive possession not on the goal line the Bears were able to find success in their run game and scored on a 48 yard touchdown to go ahead 16-6.  The Bears would drive down to the goal line but fumble on the 7 yard line to give the Tigers hope to stop the bleeding and sustain a drive.  A fumble of their own on the ensuing play would damper the hearts of the Tigers and they would give up a touchdown two plays later, increasing the Bears lead to 24-6.

Turnovers would be the theme all night as the Tigers would fumble once again, leading to another offensive touchdown for the Bears.  An interception would stall out another drive for the Tigers as the halftime score would be 32-6.

“We played well at times,” Tiger coach Josh Nordick said.  “We can’t turn the ball over 5 times in the first half and expect to stay in the game. If we clean up some of the mistakes we could make a run in the playoffs up in section 6.”
