Rockets Earn Road Win Over Park Christian School

The Underwood Rockets traveled to Moorhead on Wednesday night and closed out their regular season schedule with a convincing 52-6 victory over the Park Christian Falcons.

“It was a good way to end the regular season with everyone getting a chance to contribute as we get ready for the playoffs,” commented Underwood Head Coach Chuck Ross.

Thomas Noyes got the Rockets on the board with an 18 yard touchdown run at 7:15 of the opening quarter. The score was 8-0 following a two point conversion run by Wyatt Thorson. At 3:30 of the first quarter Daxton Olson scored on a 10 yard run and Noyes scored again at 1:45 of the quarter on a run of 46 yards, putting the score at 20-0 after one quarter of play.

Underwood increased their lead to 28-0 on a 3 yard run by Zane Swanson and a two point conversion run by Noyes just ten seconds into the second quarter. With 9:45 left in the half Thorson scored from one yard out and Olson ran in the conversion for a 36-0 lead. Park Christian scored on a 41 yard pass from Payton Spaeth to Jonah Williams with 5:45 remaining in the second quarter to cut the Underwood lead to 36-6, however, Underwood scored with just fifty seconds left in the half on a 10 yard run by Swanson and a Noyes two point conversion run giving the Rockets a 44-6 halftime advantage.

The Rockets tallied the only score of the second half when Swanson scored on a fifteen yard run with 9:30 left in the third quarter and Noyes added the two point conversion run.

Underwood compiled 269 yards of offense, 222 on the ground. Noyes (6 attempts, 113 yards) was their leading rusher and Swanson had 57 yards on 8 carries. Olson was 3-for-4 throwing the football for 47 yards and Noyes caught two of the passes for 9 yards. Winston Heifort hauled in one pass for 38 yards. Heifort led the defensive effort with 4 solo tackles and a sack. Olson picked off two passes and Noyes also had an interception, as did Chase Janu.

Park Christian had 192 total yards with 134 coming through the air.
