The Brandon-Evansville Chargers won their seventh straight volleyball game on Tuesday night as they swept Battle Lake 25-22, 25-15, 25-16 in Evansville.

“We came into tonight with a couple of good practices after our last match and have been putting together some new looks offensively,” said Head Coach Kelly Olson of B-E.  “At times tonight things really clicked, and at others it was a bit segmented.  We had too many missed opportunities at the serving line to be pleased with our play, but our aces did cover most of those.  Defensively, we continued to play well, and that led to some nice transitions at the net.  We hit .262 for the match and we should be happy with that number, but we left kills out on the floor with some miscommunications.  We will try now to focus on the positives from tonight and get ready for Rothsay on Thursday evening.”

Leaders for Brandon-Evansville were Bailey Schaefer (15 kills, 12/14 serving, 2 aces), Mikenna Pattrin (8 kills, 2 blocks), Madison Quinn (6 kills, 1 block, 26 set assists, 5 digs), Sara Jacobson (10 digs, 2 aces), Kailee Klimek (15/15 serving), Korrie Randt (9/10 serving) and Brittany Korkowski (3 kills, 9/12 serving, 3 aces).

“The Battlers could not match the speed of the Chargers tonight,” said Battle Lake Head Coach Jenny Roisum.  “We were able to make some great defensive plays but then the Chargers would come back even stronger.  The Chargers passed the ball well which allowed them to be in system and attack the ball quickly.  We kept it close in set one but could not keep our rhythm in sets two and three.”

Reice Amundson led the Battlers with 4 kills while Allison Marso had 4 blocks and 10 digs.  Kate Christensen was 15/15 serving.

The Battlers host Pelican Rapids on Thursday.
