OTC Remains Unbeaten with Win in Breckenridge

Ottertail Central took a number six ranking in Class A into their game with Breckenridge on Friday night. The Bulldogs and Cowboys had a good battle with OTC pulling out a 34-20 victory. 

 

Breckenridge struck first when Caden Mcgough ran the ball in from the 3 yard line and Charles Boldingh added the extra point kick, giving the Cowboys a 7-0 lead. OTC went ahead 8-7 when Austin Wensauer carried the ball into the end zone from the nine yard line. Nick VanErp connected with Max Naddy for the two-point conversion pass. Breckenridge regained the lead on a 2 yard TD run by Hunter Feigum and a Boldingh PAT kick as they went in front 14-8. 

The lone touchdown of the second quarter was a 47 yard scoring toss from VanErp to Sam Fisher. Wensauer ran the ball in for the two point conversion and the Bulldogs led 16-14 at the half. 

OTC extended their lead to 22-14 when Van Erp and Blake Wallevand hooked up for a 45 yard touchdown pass in the third quarter. 

A 56 yard TD run by VanErp made it 28-14 early in the fourth quarter and a one yard touchdown run by VanErp put the score at 34-14. Breckenridge finished the scoring on a one yard TD plunge by Cooper Yaggie, making the final score 34-20. 

VanErp completed 10-of-14 passes for 232 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while running for 72 yards on 8 carries. Wallevand hauled in six passes for 161 yards and Fisher had two receptions for 73 yards. 

Breckenridge quarterback Cooper Yaggie was 7-for-18 for 52 yards. Jace Jensencaught two passes for 36 yards and Michael Randall had two catches for 10 yards. Feigum was the leading rusher with 87 yards on 18 attempts. Mcgough finished with 62 yards on 16 carries. 

Breckenridge had 219 rushing yards and 42 passing yards for 261 total yards in the contest, while OTC had 364 yards (146 rushing, 218 passing). The Cowboys ran 70 offensive plays compared to just 44 for the Bulldogs. 

OTC (6-0) will host United North Central next Friday night in Battle Lake, while Breckenridge (4-2) will host Frazee.
