The Pelican Rapids Vikings traveled to Menahga on Tuesday and returned home with a 3-0 non-conference volleyball victory.

“The Vikings started strong hitting the ball quite well,” said Head Coach Heidi Isaman of Pelican Rapids. “Middle hitter Adriana Torres hit the ball very aggressively all night while setter Sarah Thompson mixed up our offense very well utilizing all hitters. Kaylie Isaman and Grace Peterson passed the ball quite well to get the Vikings in system most of the night so our front row could do their job. The girls kept firing at the Braves in set one and won 25-14. Set 2 we started strong again. Pin hitter Anna StephensonRiley Berg, and Ryley Paulson stayed very aggressive on the pins to move their blockers around and find the open hole. The Vikings won set 2, 25-16. Set 3 the Vikings had a few mental breaks and missed several serves and made some execution mistakes to let the Braves back in. Middle hitter Greta Tollefson got a big block to get some momentum to go our way. The Vikings won set 3, 25-20.”

Pelican Rapids was led by Torres (10 kills, 3 ace serves, 5 digs), Thompson (16 set assists, 4 digs), Isaman (7 digs, 1 ace serve), Berg (7 digs, 4 kills) and Paulson (4 kills, 1 ace serve). Grace Peterson added 7 digs and an ace.

The Vikings will host a Heart O’ Lakes Conference matchup with Perham on Thursday.
