Lady Spartans Bounce Back Strong to Beat Western Tech

The lady Spartans bounced back from a 3-1 loss at Rochester on Friday night to defeat Western Wisconsin Technical College 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-15, 25-18) on Saturday afternoon. 

Hannah Ekse led the attack with 16 kills and had 2 blocks. Kassandra Algarateadded 14 kills and Katie Merrick had 8 kills and 2 blocks. Setter Sydney Hovlanddistributed 38 set assists and added 6 kills to the attack. Dig leaders were Taylor Berndt with 25, Hovland with 17, Algarate with 12, Corina Mark with 11 and Lexus Noyes with 10. 

The Spartans served 90.7% for the match and recorded 13 aces with Ekse leading the way with 4. Hovland and Berndt added three apiece, Mark had 2 aces and Megan Dreger finished with one. Serving leaders were Hovland (17/17), Berndt (21/23), Mark (10/11), Noyes (8/8), Algarate (11/13), Ekse (14/17) and Dreger (7/8). 

M State (11-6) will travel to Coon Rapids for a MCAC dual meet against Anoka-Ramsey on Wednesday night.
