During the 2017 season the Fergus Falls volleyball team doubled their conference wins (4-8) and overall wins (14-16) from the previous year with two seniors from that team, Kate Kotschevar (setting assists) and Ellie Swenson (kills) reaching the top ten leaderboard in team history.  With the loss of eight seniors to graduation the Otters have some holes to fill, however, they also bring back a solid nucleus of girls with varsity experience.

"We are an athletic team with good overall quickness and jumping ability that should be fun to watch," commented Head Coach Renee Erickson.  "A strong showing in Summer League and tournament play promises solid team unity.  This will help us learn the finer nuances of the game and should bring solid improvement throughout the season."

Seniors Lily Pearson (Middle Hitter) and Emma Norgard (Libero), and juniors Sabrina Fronning (Outside Hitter), Chloe Nelson (Setter/Outside Hitter) and Jade Zierden (Right Side Hitter/Middle Hitter) are all returning letter winners for the Otters.

Senior Hallie Sheridan (Defensive Specialist) is returning to volleyball after playing soccer a year ago and senior Amzie Aho (Outside Hitter/Right Side Hitter) is coming off a knee injury that kept her sidelined her junior year.  Other seniors hoping to crack the lineup are Greta Christenson (Defensive Specialist) and Hailey Macheledt (Right Side Hitter).

Juniors Gretchen Davis (Outside Hitter) and Kaia Strom (Setter), and sophomores Hannah Prody (Middle Hitter) and Paige Pearson (Outside Hitter) are also in the varsity mix.

Erickson has great experience with her in the coaching ranks as she will be assisted by Denny Hystead, Sabrina Noon, Miranda Steer and Sheri Smith.

Erickson sees Perham, DGF, Detroit Lakes and Roseau as teams to beat in Section 8AA, while Willmar, Brainerd, Alexandria and Rocori are favorites in the Central Lakes Conference.
