Fergus Falls Post 30 finished play at the Wahpeton Tournament with a pair of wins on Sunday, beating Glasgow, Montana 14-1, and LaMoure, North Dakota, 8-0.  With the wins Post 30 claimed second place in the tournament with a 3-1 record.

“What a great weekend to get our season started,” said Head Coach Trevor Larson.  “I really thought we played well the entire weekend.  Our pitchers did a good job of throwing strikes and our defense did a good job of making plays behind our pitchers.  Guys are asked to play different positions and they did it well.  We had 12 different players record hits this weekend and many others contributed as well.”

Starting pitcher Levi King (4IP, 2H, 1R, 0BB, 2K) was very good against Glasgow, working ahead in counts early and often.  Leading hitters were Luke Pearson (2-4, 3R), Ethan Gronwold (3-3, 2B), Brock Scheuerman (1-2, 2B, 3RBI), King (1-1, 2B, 2BB, 2R, 3RBI), Isaiah Holmes (1-2, 2B, 2R, 3RBI) and Ben Swanson (1-3, 2B, 2RBI).

Logan Larson (4IP, 5H, 3BB, 5K) and Ethan Gronwold (3IP, 1H, 2BB, 3K) combined on the shutout of LaMoure.  Scheuerman (2-3, HR, 2R, 3RBI) and King (2-4, 3B, RBI) led the offensive attack for Post 30.

“It was fun to see Brock hit his first homer, and a few guys came close as well,” noted Coach Larson.  “A big thank you to American Legion Post 30 for sponsoring the team and allowing us to be able to go play in a fun tournament like this to start the year!”

Post 30 kicks off District play this coming Thursday at home against Detroit Lakes with a double header starting at 5:00pm at Legion Field.
