Fergus Falls American Legion Post 30 traveled to Wahpeton on Saturday for a game against District rival, Detroit Lakes Post 15.  Post 30 jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the top of the first inning and never looked back as they went on to record a 10-1 victory over DL.  Carston Fronning (5IP, 4H, 1R, 1BB, 5K) started on the bump and turned in a complete game effort in earning the victory.

Leading hitters for Fergus Falls were Logan Larson (1-1, RBI, 2R, 2BB), Hunter Powers (1-2, 3B, RBI, BB, 2R) and Isaiah Holmes (1-1, 2SB, 2R).

Brock Scheuerman singled sharply to center field to score Larson and Fronning for a 2-0 lead.  Powers scored on a wild pitch, then Holmes stole second and third and scored when the throw to third base sailed high.  Post 30 added two runs in the second, one in the third and two in the fifth to close out the scoring.

“Everything starts with pitching and Fronning did a great job of mixing pitches and working ahead in the count,” commented Head Coach Trevor Larson.  “Our defense continues to make the plays that should be made, sprinkling in a couple of nicer plays here and there!”

Post 30 finishes up play in the Wahpeton Tournament on Sunday with games against Glasgow, Montana at 10:00am and LaMoure, North Dakota at 12:30pm.
