The Fergus Falls baseball team earned a split at home vs Brainerd on senior night taking game one in walk-off fashion after the Warriors tied the game in the top of the 7th.  The Otters responded in dramatic fashion when Levi King, who reached on a fielders choice,  scored the game winning run off of a Griffin Babolian single with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th, giving the Otters the 7-6 victory.  Game 2 was similar, only this time the home town team fell just short.  With the tying runs on base in the 7th, the Otters were unable to get them across, falling to Brainerd, 6-4.

King went  6 innings on the mound in the first game, not issuing a single walk and limiting the damage, allowing  3 earned runs on 12 hits, and striking out 7.

At the plate, Eli Tollerson was 3-3 with 2 RBI and Griffin Babolian was 2-4 with the game winning RBI.

Hunter Powers went 5 innings  on the mound for the Otters in the second game, yielding only 4 hits, and 5 runs, only 1 of which was earned, walking 3 and striking out 4.  Alex Ellison provided one inning of relief allowing 1 earned run.

Carston Fronning led the Otters at the plate in game 2 going 2-4 with a RBI.

"We honored 6 seniors on senior night and want to thank them for their dedication to Otter Baseball," said Head Coach Shane Thielke.  "Griffin Babolian, Kellen Stenstrom, Eli Tollerson, Sammy Holmes Jr, Leighton Buckmeier and Ethan Gronwold."

Thielke continued, “It was another great night for baseball and splitting with a team like Brainerd is not something you take for granted.  We would have loved to win both games for sure, and we certainly had our opportunities thanks to great pitching in both games, but at this point in the season, a split with these guys in 2 competitive games was just fun baseball. I like the growth we’ve shown these past few weeks and we continue to strive towards our goal of playing our best baseball when it counts the most. I’m happy for our seniors to get to enjoy these moments.  Any time you can win with a walk-off, you know you’re having fun!”

The Otters have another Central Lakes Conference and Section matchup with Rocori on Thursday.
