Sauk Centre scored 4 runs in the second inning and made them stand up for an 8-3 victory over Brandon-Evansville on Monday in Sauk Centre.  An error led to one run in the inning, Evan Zales doubled home another, and Keegan Mooendorf followed with a two-run single.  Hunter Dickinson (5.2IP, 4H, 3R, 2ER, 5BB, 7K) was the winning pitcher.

Kaden Englund and Riley Perleberg were the one-two punch for the Chargers as both players contributed RBI hits.  Perleberg led B-E with three hits in four at bats and Englund added a pair of singles.

“Much like the past few games, we are able to get runners into scoring position, but can’t come through with the big hit when we need it,” reported Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Brian Perleberg.  “We did manage to cut the lead to 5-3 going to the bottom of the sixth, but then struggled to make the plays on defense that we needed to make and gave them the momentum right back.  We did get a fine relief pitching performance from Lucas Fuller, who only gave up one earned run during five innings of relief, so that’s a positive we can take away from this game.  As frustrating as this loss was with missed opportunities, we now have to refocus and get ready for a big double header versus Border West tomorrow.”
