Parkers Prairie fell to New York Mills, 6-3, on Wednesday in a Park Region Conference baseball contest.  Nolan Steidl got the start on the mound for the Panthers and went 5 complete innings before reaching pitch count, leaving the game tied 3-3, giving up 7 hits, 3 walks, 3 runs and 3 strikeouts.  Dylan Debilzen was on in relief and came in and got two quick outs.  “Dylan was cruising and painting the plate, and looked like we should have had a couple of backwards K’s, but the calls didn’t go our way,” said Head Coach Derek Denny of the Panthers.

Steidl and David Revering led Parkers Prairie with two hits each.  Joe Johnson, Chavous Wendt and Cohen Noska also collected hits in the game.

“Credit the Eagles as they took advantage of the extra pitches and were able to tack some runs on,” said Coach Denny.  “Offensively, we struggled to hit as we faced the Eagle ace, but that’s exactly the type of pitching we need to gear up for.  We also didn’t run the bases as sharply as we needed to, and we need to improve our batting average with runners in scoring position.”

Isaac Grabow had the defensive stat of the game with a diving catch in right field.

The Panthers won the JV game, 11-0.  AJ Woodworth pitched masterfully, going 5.2 innings of 3-hit, no-run baseball, all while striking out 12 Eagles and walking only one.
