Lady Cardinals Place First, Otters Second at CLC Meet in Willmar

Once again a wet golf course greeted the Central Lakes Conference girls’ on Tuesday in Willmar.  The Alexandria Cardinals recorded an impressive win with a team score of 336.  Fergus Falls was a distant second with a 360.  Willmar and Sartell tied for third at 364.  They were followed by Brainerd 384, St. Cloud 394, Rocori 404 and Sauk Rapids-Rice 452.

 

Annika Jyrkas of Fergus Falls and Shayla Nordlund turned in rounds of 74 to lead the field of golfers.  Ellie Sticha of Alexandria was next at 79 and the Cardinals Rachel Bowen fired an 82.  Annie Mayer of the Otters was fifth with an 84 and Grace Herzog of Alexandria placed sixth with an 86.

Ellie Bergren shot a 99 and Hanna Bye a 103 to complete the team scoring for the Otters.  Maggie Greenagel came in with a 109 and Ava Thompson recorded a 141.

“The course got hit with a thunderstorm prior to going out and playing so it was pretty wet out there,” reported Fergus Falls Head Coach Ben Jurgens.  “We had players that got valuable varsity experience.  The more holes we play in May, the better we will be prepared in June.”

Other Alexandria scores included an 89 from Cadence Simon who tied for tenth place, Haley Srock with a 93 and Nora Steidl with a 94.

Fergus Falls has their Pre-Section meet at Bemidji on Wednesday. Alexandria will head to Greystone Golf Course in Sauk Centre for their Pre-Section meet on Friday.
