The Pelican Rapids softball team posted a 5-2 win over Mahnomen-Waubun on Tuesday. The Thunderhawks tied the game in the bottom of the seventh and had runners on second and third with one out. Zayla Arrow struck out the lead-off batter and a got a ground ball out to end the inning. Chelsey Blakeway came up big in the top of the 8th inning with a solid base hit to right field, scoring two runs.
Hitting leaders for the lady Vikings were Hazel Haugrud (2-5, RBI), Linea Thomas (2-3, RBI, R), Claudia Gurath (2-5), Arianna Villagomez (2-4, R), Ava Simpson (1-3, BB, RBI), Zayli Arrow (1-4, R), Blakeway (1-3, R, 2RBI) and Zayla Arrow (1-2, R, BB). Zayla Arrow (8IP, 3H, 5BB, 10K, 1ER) went the distance in the circle, earning the win.
Pelican Rapids will host Crookston on Thursday at 4:00pm.
