Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley and Wheaton/Herman-Norcross split a pair of high school softball games on Monday with the Wolverines pushing across two runs in the eleventh inning for a 5-3 win in game one and the Warriors holding on for a 7-6 victory in game two.
Jadyn Kellen (11IP, 11H, 5R, 4ER, 3BB, 1K) went the distance in the circle but took the loss in the first game for Wheaton/Herman-Norcross. Addison Blume, Emily Drewicke, Jordyn Perry, Makayla Bertram and Kellen had singles, while Perry and Sadie Vipond drove in the runs. Bertram also had a steal.
In game two, the Warriors led 6-5 heading into the seventh inning. They added an insurance run for a two-run lead and then held on for the 7-6 win. Jordyn Perry (5IP, 5H, 4R, 4ER, 5BB, 3K) and Kellen (2IP, 2H, 2R, 1ER, 3BB, 1K) combined for the win in the circle. Hadley Berger went 4-for-4 at the plate with a run batted in and a run scored. Bertam was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, Grace Dawson was 1-for-3 with a run batted in and Vipond went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run batted in and two runs scored. Drewicke also scored twice and stole a base.
