Lady Panthers Hold Off OTC Comeback Attempt for 10-9 Victory

OTC recovered from a slow start on Monday night against a hard hitting Parkers Prairie team, but the Bulldogs came up one run short in a 10-9 loss.  Parkers scored 4 in the first, 3 in the second and 2 in the fourth to open up a 9-4 lead over the Bulldogs.  OTC came back with 3 in the fourth and one in the fifth to make it a 9-8 game and each team scored once in the sixth.  “I am proud that the girls never gave up,” stated OTC Head Coach Heather Akerman

 

Sophie Akerman threw another solid game giving up 5 earned runs, striking out 5 and walking 2,” continued Akerman.  “Offensively, we are starting to hit the ball much better and be more disciplined at the plate.” 

Akerman (3-4, 2B, SB, RBI, 3R), Liz Lukken (1-4, 2B, 2RBI), Ezrah Baker (2-3, 2B, HR, RBI, R), Emma Dirkman (1-3, BB) and Esme Larsen (1-4, 2R) all earned at least one hit.  Ezrah hit her 5th career home run in the bottom of the 6th to get the Bulldogs back within one.  

The Bulldogs play Pillager in a double header Tuesday at 4:00pm in Battle Lake.

Offensive leaders for Parkers Prairie were Alyssa Revering (3-4, 2B, 3RBI, 3R, SB), Anya Wagner (3-4, HR, 2RBI, 2R), Skylar Ashbaugh (2-4, 2SB, 2R), Jessa Rounds (2-5, 2R, SB), Evy Grinager (1-4, 2RBI) and Hope Koep (2-3, 2B, BB).  Revering was the winning pitcher, striking out 11 batters in 7 innings.
