Ryan Nelson fired an impressive round of 73 to finish 2nd place overall and lead the Otters to a 3rd place finish at the Legacy Golf Club in Brainerd on Monday.  The team event was won by Sartell with a team score of 304, followed by Brainerd with a 308, and then the Otters with a 316.  Alexandria was 4th at 319.  The only individual to beat Nelson was Marty Timmons of Sartell who fired a 71.

Sophomore Simon McGovern had his best varsity round to finish in 10th place overall with a 78.  Adam Kennedy (82) and Quintin Kuehl (83) rounded out the scoring for the boys.

"Ryan Nelson was awesome today," said coach Matt McGovern.  "He played so smart and eliminated mistakes.  Super proud of him today."

Next up for the Otters will be the Detroit Lakes invitational on Friday and Saturday of this week.  The invite includes lots of the best teams from around the state and will be a good test to see where Fergus stacks up.
