The Fergus Falls Hurricanes opened their season at home on Sunday with a 6-2 win over the Sauk Centre Titans.  Canes pitchers struck out 15 batters and issued no walks on the day.  Alex Hexum (3IP, 5K, 0BB, 3H, 0R) was the winning pitcher, in relief of starter Eric Salvesen (3IP, 4K, 0BB, 2H, 2R, 0ER).  Darin Stanislawski (3IP, 6K, 0BB< 2H, 0R) earned the save.

Sauk Centre took a 2-0 lead in the second inning.  Jake Haskamp led off with a single and after a strikeout, Andrew Primus reached on an error.  A passed ball moved the runners to second and third and a two-out single by Shane Trattles brought both runners home.

Fergus Falls got one run back in the fourth as Thomas Bosek and Hexum reached on singles.  After a strikeout, Owen “Sully” Krueger reached on a fielders’ choice and in the Titans attempt to turn a double play the throw sailed past the first baseman allowing Bosek to score.  The Canes took a 3-2 lead in the fifth.  Sean McGuire doubled to lead things off and moved to third base on a ground out.  After the second out was recorded, Stanislawski walked, Bosek singled, scoring McGuire with the tying run, and Hexum reached on an infield error which allowed Stanislawski to score the go-ahead run.

Tosten Mann launched a solo home run to right field with one out in the seventh inning and the Canes added another run when Stanislawski singled and came around to score on a clutch 2-out single by Austin Stanislawski.  The final Fergus Falls run came in the either when McGuire drew a one-out walk, took second on a ground out and scored on a single by Mann.

Mann (3-5, 2B, HR, 2RBI, R), Bosek (2-5, RBI, R) and McGuire (1-3, 2B, 2R, 2BB) were the offensive leaders for the Canes.

Fergus Falls will travel to Alexandria on Saturday to face the Black Sox in a 5:00pm contest.
