Brandon-Evansville swept a baseball double header from Rothsay on Thursday, holding the Tigers to just 2 runs and 2 hits total on the day.  The Chargers won 12-1 in game one and 13-1 in game two.  Colton Breitkreutz (4IP, 1H, 8K) and Jack Kelly (1IP, 3K, 1BB) combined for win in the first game and Riley Perleberg struck out 12 batters in pitching all five innings in the nightcap.

B-E scored 9 runs in the fourth inning of the first game to take control.  Lucas Fuller (2-2, R, RBI, 3SB) and Seth Thoennes (1-3, 2B, SB) led the offensive effort by the Chargers.  Carter White, Riley Perleberg and Kaden Englund also had singles.

“Colton and Jack did a superb job of throwing strikes on a day when the mound was slippery and the ball was wet,” stated Head Coach Brian Perleberg.  “The offense did a great job of being aggressive on the bases and we were able to get contributions from everyone in the lineup.”

The Chargers scored ten runs in the fourth inning to break the second game open.  The big hits in the fourth inning came from Jack Kelly, Seth Thoennes, and Landon Sullivan.  Kelly had two hits, while Sullivan and Perleberg each drove in two runs for B-E.

“We always stress the importance of pitching and today we were fortunate to throw consistent strikes in both games,” noted Coach Perleberg.  “Riley got into a groove and was able to keep Rothsay off the bases which in turn, made it easier on the defense.  It was great to see several different guys swing the bat better than earlier in the season and they are starting to look more comfortable and patient at the plate.”

The Chargers will host Hancock on Monday at 4:00pm in a double header and will travel to Wheaton on Tuesday for a double header with Border West beginning at noon.
