The Moorhead Spuds held Alexandria to a single run on Monday as the Spuds defeated the Cardinals by the score of 7-1 in a non-conference high school baseball contest for the Cardinals.  “We ran into a good pitching performance from Moorhead tonight,” said Alexandria Head Coach Jacob Munsch.

Jordan Kuhnau collected the only two hits for the Cardinals, launching a solo home run and hitting a double.

Carter Simonson had another quality start on the mound going 5 innings, allowing 5 runs (3 earned runs) on 4 hits, striking out 6 and walking 5.  Landon Raths relieved Simonson, pitching the final 2 innings and allowing 2 runs (1 earned), while scattering 7 hits.  He walked 1 and struck out 2.

The Cardinals travel to Fergus Falls for a 5:00pm game against the Otters on Tuesday.
