Pelican Rapids hosted Brandon-Evansville in a high school baseball game on Monday evening and the home team came away with a 5-1 win over the Chargers.  A passed ball allowed Jack Paulson to score the first run in the bottom of third, giving Pelican Rapids a 1-0 lead.  The Chargers tied the game in the top of the sixth when Riley Perleberg led off with a double and later scored on Landon Sullivan’s RBI single.  Pelican Rapids took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth, scoring four unearned runs with two out to record the win.

“Both teams left a lot of runners in scoring position today,” said Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Brian Perleberg.  “We missed on our opportunities in the 3rd, 4th, and 6th, and they capitalized on theirs for the most part.  That was the difference in the game.  Given the cold and wet conditions, I though both teams pitched well and the defenses kept the game close.”

Riley Perleberg (1-2, 2B, R, 2BB) led the offensive effort for B-E.  Kaden Englund, Seth Thoennes, and Landon Sullivan all went 1-for-3 at the plate for the Chargers.

Sullivan (4IP, 2H, 1ER, 3BB, 6K) and Carter White (2IP, 5H, 0ER, 3BB, 4K) shared the mound duties.

No Pelican Rapids stats were reported.
