The Alexandria baseball team traveled to Sartell on Thursday evening where they battled the Sartell Sabres to a 2-1 defeat in Central Lakes Conference play.  “It felt like a playoff atmosphere as both teams battled throughout the game with good pitching and great defensive plays on both sides of the field,” commented Alexandria Head Coach Jacob Munsch.

Landon Raths started the game on the mound for the Cards and had a good evening, going 4.2 innings, allowing just 2 hits and 2 unearned runs.  He walked 3 and struck out 3.  Landon Gess Norling finished the game in relief.

Offensively, the Cardinals collected 5 hits with Sawyer Rumohr and Jordan Kuhnau leading the way with 2 hits apiece, each contributing a double and a single.  Brady Adelman came up with a big 2-out hit in the 6th inning to plate the lone Alexandria run.  “Sartell’s center field made a great play, throwing out the tying run at the plate to keep the lead at 2-1,” noted Coach Munsch.

Alexandria will host Detroit Lakes in a 4:30pm contest on Friday at Knute Nelson Field.
