Underwood Girls Basketball Awards

The 2023-2024 season was a record setting season for the Underwood girls’ basketball team.  The Rockets tied the team record for wins in a season with 28, equaling the number of games won last season, while winning the Section 6A title and taking 4th place in the Class A State Tournament.  The Rockets also scored more points (2,199) and averaged more points per game (66.6) than any team in program history.  They also turned the ball over an all-time low 11.1 times per game.

 

Individually, Liz Lukken scored the most points in a season (746) and made the most field goals in a season (300).  Trinity Baker had a record high assist total for a season (132), while Kallyn Grove recorded the best 3-point shooting percentage (50%) and set the record for most made 3’s in a game with 6.  Grove also made her presence felt in the blocks category with 11 blocked shots in a game, 126 blocks in the season and 176 career blocked shots.

Lukken, Grove and Ezrah Baker were named to the All-Conference First Team in the Little Eight Conference, while Trinity Baker was All-Conference Second Team.  Grove was All-State Honorable Mention and Lukken was selected to the All-State Team.  Lukken and Ezrah Baker were also Academic All-State honorees.  The Rockets had the highest GPA among teams in Section 6A.

Individual awards were presented to Mily Albjerg (Most Improved), Trinity Baker (Assist Leader), Grove (Captain, Rebound Leader, Rocket Teammate Award), Ezrah Baker (Captain, Defensive MVP) and Lukken (Captain, Steals Leader, MVP).
