Fergus Falls 10U Gold Baseball Team Sweeps Alexandria

The Fergus Falls 10U Gold baseball team was triumphant over Alexandria 10U in both games of their doubleheader on Tuesday, winning 5-0 and 11-10. 

 

Fergus Falls got on the board in the first inning when Alex Nelson scored on a wild pitch.  Fergus added to their lead in the second inning when Finley Renner and Dawson Noon both walked and scored on wild pitches.  Fergus Falls again added to their lead in the 3rd inning when Alex Nelson scored on a single from Koyer Arneson and Koyer scored on a passed ball to make the score 5-0.

Griffin Nelson led things off on the mound for the Otters.  The southpaw surrendered zero hits and one run over three innings, striking out 3 and walking one.  Grady S. started on the hill for Alexandria, surrendering zero hits and one run over one inning.  Alex Nelson threw two innings of shutout ball for Fergus in relief with zero hits, 2 strikeouts and one walk. 

In the second game of the doubleheader Fergus got the win 11-10.  Fergus Falls built a 9-run lead in the 3rd inning and held off Alexandria’s late inning charge.

Fergus Falls got on the board in the 1st inning after Alex Nelson scored after a triple and a throwing error.  Koyer Arneson scored after earning a walk and a sacrifice by Harmon Price.  The Cardinals tied the game in the bottom of the second.

The Otters flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring nine runs on two hits to take a 11-2 lead.  Alexandria scored six runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to make the score 11-9 but the comeback fell short in the 5th with Ty Steer coming in to pitch with the bases loaded and two out in the bottom of the fifth, striking out the side to earn the save.

Liam Ottenbacher was the starting pitcher for Fergus Falls.  The righty gave up two hits and two runs over two innings, striking out two and walking none.  Harmon Price, Koyer Arneson and Ty Steer each appeared in relief for the Otters.

Alex Nelson led the Otters with 2 hits and Gabe West led the Otters with 3 walks.  Overall Fergus Falls had 12 walks in the game.
