The Ottertail Central baseball team improved their season record to 5-0 with a 12-5 road win at Menahga on Tuesday.  OTC scored 3 in the first, two of them scoring on a single by Soren Floden.  They added two more in the second and a single run in the third to build a 6-0 lead.  The Braves scored five times in the bottom of the fifth to trim the lead to 6-5, however, OTC answered with 5 of their own in the top of the sixth.

Gavin Pausch (4IP, 9H, 5R, 4ER, 1K, 0BB) was the winning pitcher and Jed Skoog (4IP, 6R, 5ER, 6H, 3K, 2BB) took the loss for the Braves.  Kale Misegades picked up the save.  Misegades came in the game with 2 on and nobody out after Menahga had scored five runs.  He shut them down, getting out of a jam and then proceeded to close out the game from there.

“Both pitchers did a great job tonight,” said Bulldogs Assistant Coach Dakota Aeling.  “Gavin gave us a great start and Kale got us out of a jam and finished really strong.”

Ottertail Central amassed 10 hits in the game.  Floden led the team with 3 runs batted in.  Noah Link was 3-for-4 at the plate.  Owen Harig and Eric Fick each collected a pair of hits.  “Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game,” noted Coach Ryan Hendrickson.  “Owen and Gavin each stole multiple bases and we had 10 steals as a team.”

The Braves piled up 12 hits on the day.  Alvin Salmen, Colin Becker, Tyrell Aho, and Fordyce Johnson each collected two hits for the Braves.

Next up for Ottertail Central is a game against Hillcrest Lutheran Academy at American Legion Field at DeLagoon Park on Thursday.
