The Perham Yellowjackets swept a Heart O'Lakes Conference baseball doubleheader over the Hawley Nuggets at Al Krueger Field in Perham on Tuesday night. Perham took the opener 4-0 and won handily in the nightcap 14-0.

Game one featured solid pitching performances by both teams in a well-played ballgame. Alex Blume of Perham was the winning pitcher. In six innings of work, he allowed no runs, two hits, three walks, and struck out seven. Bradyn Anderson tossed a 1-2-3 top of the 7th for the Jackets. Blume led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run to dead center and also scored three times in the game. Gavin Griffin was 2-3 with an RBI and a stolen base. Cael Kosmatka was on the losing end for the Nuggets. In five innings of work, he allowed four runs (three earned), three hits, two walks, and struck out seven. Aiden Eilertson threw one inning of scoreless relief, sprinkling in a pair of strikeouts. Kosmatka and Hayden Rux each had one double, the only hits for the Nuggets.

It was all Perham in game two. The Jackets plated four runs in the first, two in the second, four in the fourth, and four in the fifth. Nine total hits, combined with six walks, three bean balls, and three Nugget errors led to the barrage of runs. Blaiz Schmidt, who was a home run short of a cycle, went 4-4 with 8 RBI to pace Perham's offense. Ashton Detloff was 2-4 with 3 RBI. Detloff (3IP, 0R, 1H, 6K's, 1BB) and Joey Ecker (2IP, 0R, 2H, 4K's) split the pitching duties for the Jackets. Tommy Slette, Brody Hadley, Owen Becker, and Hayden Rux chipped in to throw for the Nuggets with Slette taking the loss. Eliertson, Hayden Martin, and Eli Strawsell had Hawley's three hits.

"Perham is the gold standard when it comes to baseball in our area," Beau Lofgren, head coach of Hawley said. "They've won 52 straight conference games. They play hard, are very skilled, and don't beat themselves. Hats off to Coach James Mulcahy, his staff, and players for the run they've been on. The Nuggets competed well in game one and learned a lot today. We will be back at it at practice on Wednesday."

Both Perham (6-0, 4-0 HOL) and Hawley (2-3, 1-3 HOL) host double headers this Thursday. The Yellowjackets will match up against Pelican Rapids in Perham while the Nuggets will face Breckenridge in Hawley. Both DH's start at 4:00pm.
