The ’23-’34 WCA boys basketball team chose a team motto of “Win the Day” when embarking on the season.  They embodied this motto in their daily approach to improving and taking one game at a time all the way to a historic season that resulted in the 1st trip to the state Class A basketball tournament in school history.  In doing so, they brought great joy to their community and won the hearts and respect of their fans, alumni, and the region.

The Knights squad featured an experienced, balanced, and highly skilled group of players and a style of play that was high pressure, fast paced, and unselfish.  This brand of basketball led to a West Central Conference Championship while competing against significantly larger schools.

The Knights entered their historic state tournament appearance with a 27-3 record as the #2 seed, averaging 74 points per game and yielding 55 defensively while on a 17-game winning streak.

The ’23-’24 Knights will be remembered as the most successful team in school history.  More importantly, they will forever be cherished as a basketball team that played the game the right way, played for each other, and brought great joy to all who supported them.
