Fergus Falls senior Ana Jyrkas recorded 9 birdies and came in with what is believed to be a program record 5-under par 67 to lead the Otters to a runner-up finish at the Territory Golf Course in St. Cloud at the Central Lakes Conference meet hosted by Sauk Rapids Rice on Monday.  Brainerd won the tournament with a 318 and the Otters were second with a 329.  Third place went to Alexandria at 332.  Sartell (341), Willmar (347), Rocori (374), St. Cloud (386) and Sauk Rapids-Rice (411) rounded out the team scoring.

“The entire Otter team played well today,” stated Head Coach Ben Jurgens.  “Each players’ round was under control.  Ana’s distance control with her irons were as good as I’ve seen and her putter gave her the confidence to take dead aim at the pin.  Ana has a game plan before every tournament round she plays.  From there she takes the playing conditions into consideration and goes to work.”

Sophia Karsnia of Brainerd and Ellie Sticha of Alexandria tied for second place with rounds of 77.  Madelyn Holmstrom of Brainerd and Kennedy Mara of Willmar tied for fourth with 78’s.

Olivia Jurgens posted a career best 86 and Annie Mayer tied her career low with a 79.  Shay Katzenmeyer shot 97, Ellie Bergren had a 103 and Hanna Bye came in at 106.

Rounding out Alexandria scoring were Rachel Bowen, tying for 7th with an 82, Lexi Metcalf with an 85, finishing in a tie for 11th place.  Cadence Simon came in 18th with an 88.  The other two golfers were Haley Stock (98) and Grace Herzog (101).

Alexandria Head Coach Timothy Zupfer said, “As a team, we improved on our team score from last week by 24 strokes.  Unfortunately, this was only good enough for a third place finish.  The team has only one day of practice before hosting our home invitational on Wednesday at the Alexandria Golf Club.”
