Ashby Girls Split Softball Double Header with Hancock

The Ashby Arrows got their first win against Hancock in Hancock on Thursday, taking game one of their double header by the score of 9-8.  The Owls were able to secure the split with a 15-11 victory in the nightcap. 

 

Senior Pitcher Brookelinn Finkelson pitched a solid 7 inning game in the opener, and with a great defense behind her the Arrows were able to come away with their first win of the season.  Senior Quynn Berhens got a home run, single, and double.  The team got 12 total hits with 8th graders Ella Mikkelson having three.  10th Grader Chloe Finkelson also had a double.  Senior Brookelinn Finkelson got a triple.

During the second game the Owls got ahead early with a 15 run lead going into the 4th inning.  Some adjustments were made by the Arrows and they were able to score 5 unanswered runs.  Defense was strong for the Arrows in the second half of the game.  Senior Quynn Behrens had a double and single, Junior Kaitlyn Finkelson had a single, 8th Graders Ella Mikkelson and Laila Schroeder both had two doubles, 10th grader Mia Thompson had a double and a single.
