Brandon/Evansville lost to Long Prairie/Grey Eagle 6-2 in a high school baseball game on Monday in Evansville.

LPGE jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Boston Mitzel singled, scoring one run, Colton Allen grounded out, scoring two runs, and a dropped third strike scored one more.

Carter Holman earned the win allowing one hit in three innings on the mound, striking out one and walking four.  Landon Sullivan took the loss for the Chargers, surrendering four runs on six hits, striking out two and walking three in his three innings on the hill.  Colton Breitkreutz delivered three innings of relief pitching before giving way to Carter White who pitched the 7th.

Breitkreutz (1 for 3) and Riley Perleberg (1 for 2, 2 SB, 2 runs) were the leading offensive players for Brandon-Evansville.

“We put ourselves in a difficult situation by falling behind by four runs in the top of the first and just couldn’t capitalize when we got runners into scoring position," said B-E Head Coach Brian Perleberg.  "We didn’t play as well defensively as we know we can, so now we just have to learn from those mistakes and work harder in practice to find ways to stay consistent.  Give credit to LPGE, they are a good team who made some nice defensive plays.  We are a very young team and just need to stay positive until we find our groove.”

B-E travels to Wheaton on Friday for a double header against Border West.
