The Rothsay softball team picked up a pair of wins on Monday, beating Hancock by scores of 12-2 and 12-1.  “It was a cold and windy night, but our girls came out ready to play,” commented Rothsay Head Coach Anita Heier.  “It was fun to see contributions throughout the lineup.  Our pitchers threw well for our first time out and our batters had quality at bats tonight.  It was a fun start to the spring season.”

Rothsay scored 3 times in the first inning of game one on a double by McKenzie Tillman and a single by Allison Phillips.  They added another 4 runs in the third to take a 7-0 lead with hits by Lauren Reber and Bethany Danielson.  Phillips added a run-scoring double in a 4-run fourth to increase the lead to 11-0.  Hancock scored their two runs in the fifth and Kinsey Heier drove in the final Rothsay run in the sixth to end the game by the ten-run rule.  Danielson (6IP, 2R, 0H, 13K, 8BB) hurled a no-hitter for the Tigers.

The Tigers struck early again in game two, scoring twice in the top of the first and four times in the second to build a 6-0 lead.  Tillman and Madi Tollerud each recorded a hit.  Reber knocked in a pair of runs in the 4-run third as Rothsay increased their lead to 10-0.  Hancock scored their lone run in the bottom of the third and the Tigers added a pair of sixth-inning runs on back-to-back triples by Elli Meyer and Kali Leininger.  Tollerud (6IP, H, 7BB, 13K) was the winning pitcher.
