Legends Sweep Spartans in Alexandria

The M State baseball team dropped both ends of a double header at Alexandria on Saturday, losing 16-6 in 5 innings in the opener, while dropping the nightcap 14-8.  The two teams will play another double header on Sunday, this time in Fergus Falls.

 

Spartan pitching issued 11 walks in the first game and Alexandria reaped the benefits by scoring 16 runs.  Jacob Merrill drew four walks and scored 3 times.  He also drove in a run with a base hit. Other hitting leaders for the Legends were Josmer Ortiz Aponte (2-5, 2RBI, 2R, 2B), Levi Lampert (2-3, 2BB, 2 2B, 2R) and Chuck Hackett (2-3, 4R, 5RBI, BB, HR).  Tori Helget (5IP, 7H, 6ER, 1BB, 6K) went the distance to gain the win on the mound.

M State was led by Carson Bevill (1-2, HR, 3RBI, R), Logan Pulju (1-2, 2B, 2RBI, R) and Connor Davis (1-3, RBI, R).

Alexandria jumped out to a 10-1 lead after two innings in the second game.  Hitting leaders were Lampert (2-3, 2HR, 5RBI, 3R, BB), Merrill (2-2, 2RBI, 2R, HR), Hackett (1-3, HR, 2RBI, 2R, BB) and Devin Gutierrez (1-4, 2B, RBI).

Isaac Hamann (3-4, 2B, HR, 3RBI, 3R) had a big day at the plate.  Pulju (2-4, 2B, 3RBI), Ben Monson (1-2, HR, RBI, 2R, BB) and Bevill (2-4, RBI) were the other hitting leaders.
