With a pair of wins over Sauk Centre on Thursday in Barrett, the West Central Area softball team improved their season record to 3-0.  The Knights won game one, 7-6, and took game two, 8-3.  “It was a crazy, cold night with lots of wind and some rain,” commented Head Coach Vanessa McNamara of WCA.  “Definitely made for some interesting plays.  Our defense was lights out today and Addison Staples made sure nobody ran around the bases.  Lily Mahoney was tough on the mound and Madison Fagre had multiple ESPN style plays.”

Mahoney earned the win in game one, giving up two hits and striking out 12 batters.  Zoey Fuhrman, Fagre and Izzy Puchalski each had multiple hits for the lady Knights.

In the second game, Mahoney surrendered 4 hits and struck out seven.  Puchalski, Fuhrman, Mya Foslien and Alaina Sykora had multiple hits.

“Our outfield was fierce, letting nothing drop and making incredible catches,” noted Coach McNamara.  “Overall, we as coaches couldn’t ask for more.  The kids are beat up and tired because they left it all on the field.  We are proud and blessed with the best.”
