Fergus Falls 13U Wins Two Against Fargo North White

The Fergus Falls Otters 13u traveled to Fargo on Thursday night to take on the Fargo North White Spartans and came away victorious 15-9 in the first game and 8-4 in a shortened second game.

 

The Otters struck first and scored 5 runs without a hit. The Otters took advantage of walks and miscues by the Spartans. Isaac Jenc, Hayden Heruth, Jace Kremeier, and Cade Johnson all walked and scored in the inning and Kai Ebert reached on an error and scored. The Otters tacked on 3 more in the second with Chase Johnston and Heruth both singling and scoring and Ebert singling in Cade Johnson. The Otters added 5 more in the 3rd with the aid of a handful of walks and hit by pitches. Beau Schlosser, Weston Youngberg, Jenc, Chase Johnston and Kremeier all reached by free pass and came around to score. The Otters added one more in the 6th and the 7th with Heruth and Youngberg both reaching on an error and scoring.

Dexter Felstul started on the bump for the Otters and pitched 3 strong innings, only allowing one hit and one run while striking out 3. Jenc relieved Felstul and pitched 2 innings and striking out 3. Heruth pitched the final two innings, giving up one hit and striking out 2.

In the second game, the Otters scored 4 in the first and 4 in the second. Chase Johnston had a double and 2 RBI, Felstul and Heruth both had singles and an RBI, and Cade Johnson had a single and scored a run. Ebert, Proudfoot and Schlosser all scored 2 runs in the game. Heruth and Proudfoot both pitched a solid inning for the Otters.

“I am proud of the way the boys battled tonight. This was our first game of the season and the boys’ first ever game on a regulation size baseball field (60’6” pitching mound and 90’ bases). With limited practice outside, the boys played a great night of baseball,” noted Coach Felstul.

The Otters host Alexandria on Tuesday, April 16 at Farmers’ Field in Fergus Falls at 4:30.
