The Brandon-Evansville baseball team posted an 8-1 victory over Mahnomen-Waubun on Thursday. “We did a nice job of making plays on defense and got quality pitching performances from Carter White, (4IP, 1R, 2H, 6K), Lucas Fuller and Riley Perleberg,” stated B-E Head Coach Brian Perleberg. The three B-E pitchers combined to only give up two hits while striking out 12 Thurnderbird batters.
Brandon-Evansville opened the scoring in the second inning on Hunter Grothen’s RBI single. After Mahnomen-Waubun tied the score in the bottom of the second, the Chargers regained the lead in the 3rd on Landon Sullivan’s sacrifice fly, scoring Seth Thoennes. B-E added four runs in the 3rd on their way to pulling away for the win.
Offensive leaders for Brandon-Evansville were Thoennes, Grothen and White.
Brandon-Evansville will host a non-conference game versus Long Prairie-Grey Eagle next Monday.
