Hamann Delivers Solid Pitching Performance as Spartans Earn Split in Brainerd

The M State baseball team traveled to Brainerd on Wednesday for a double header against Central Lakes.  The host team won the first game in convincing fashion, 16-6, however, in the nightcap, the Spartans took control early and went on to win by the score of 8-2, gaining a split on the day.  M State has another road double header on Saturday in Alexandria, before turning around and hosting two games with Alex on Sunday in Fergus Falls.

 

In the first game the Raiders had seven different players produce multiple hits as they collected 17 as a team.  They had a pair of 5-run innings to start the day, taking an early 10-0 lead on the way to the win.  Taevyn Brown and Jaydon Dymanyk each drove in 3 runs for the home team.  Braxden Stewart knocked in 2 runs and scored three times.  Josh Kossan and Alex Tittrington also 2 RBI apiece.

Leaders in the opener for M State were Eoghan Fisher (1-4, 2B, 2RBI, R), Logan Pulju (1-3, 2B, 2RBI), Evan Lunde (1-2, 2B, RBI, R), Tyson Barthel (2-2, RBI, R) and Isaac Hamann (0-2, 2BB, R).

Hamann led the Spartans to the game two victory as he pitched 5 innings, allowing 5 hits and one run while striking out 8 batters in earning the victory.  Hamann also went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and a run scored.  Logan Pulju was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, three runs batted in and two runs scored.  Tyson Barthel drove in four runs, going 3-for-4 with a double.  Bryce Kruger had 3 hits, including a double, and also drove in a run.
