The Hancock Owls fell behind 5-1 after four innings in their game against Central Minnesota Christian on Tuesday, however, the Owls pushed across 3 runs in the top of the seventh and held on for an 8-7 victory, improving their early season record to 3-0. Hancock banged out 11 hits in the game, while CMCS tallied 5 hits.
Hudson Ver Steeg (3-4, 2 2B, 2RBI, R, BB) and Donovan Curfman (3-4, 2 RBI, R, 2SB, SF) led the offensive effort for Hancock. Jordan Chunn (2-3, R), Ambrose Rinkenberger (1-3, RBI, R, BB, SB), Sebastian Salas (1-4, 2RBI, BB) and Ralphy Algarate (1-3) also contributed hits. Gunnar Curfman walked twice, scored twice and stole a pair of bases.
Brady Luthi (3.2IP, 4H, 3R, 1ER, 1BB, 4K) was the winning pitcher in relief of starter Hudson Ver Steeg (3.1IP, 1H, 4R, 2ER, 6BB, 4K).
