Replacing 3-time All-Heart O’ Lakes Conference golfer Krysten Halverson, a 6 year varsity player, will not be easy, but the Frazee girls’ golf team has several reasons for optimism heading into 2024.  The Hornets return 7 letter winners and as Head Coach David Conzemius points out, “We are excited for the upcoming season as we have really good numbers with 20 girls out in grades 7-11.”

Returning letter winners include juniors Emma Wiseman, who was an All-Conference golfer last season for the second time in her high school career, Ella Perala, Lilly Adams, Onajea Maijala, Grace Fales and Liberty Peterson, along with sophomore Rylee Stock.

Junior Emma Beimert and sophomores Emersyn Wake and Madison Boyer will also be competing for varsity playing time.

“Despite having no seniors this year, we have a really experienced team with six girls returning with varsity experience,” noted Coach Conzemius.  “We have nine juniors out this year and several younger girls, so we have a nice mix of athletes in grades 7-11.  We need a lot of work on all areas and are striving to help the girls to become more consistent with both their ball striking and short games.”

Jerry Bellefeuille will serve as assistant coach.

As for the competition for the Hornets, Conzemius says, “Detroit Lakes is moving down from 3A to 2A and finished third in 3A a year ago.  They graduated no seniors so they are the clear favorites.  In the HOL, Hawley and Perham look to be the top two teams.”
