The Brandon-Evansville Chargers hosted Upsala/Swanville Area (USA) on Friday in their season opener.  Winning pitcher Bryce Binek held the Chargers to just one hit in the game, collecting 3 strikeouts in 3 innings of work in a 2-0 victory.  Landon Sullivan suffered the loss for B-E, giving up 3 hits and an unearned run in 4 innings on the mound.

“Overall, this was a well-played game by both teams, considering it was the first game of the season and having had only one outdoor practice prior to today,” commented B-E Head Coach Brian Perleberg.  “It was exciting to see our defense turn in some dandy plays on opening day as Landon Sullivan, Lucas Fuller, Riley Perleberg and Kaden Englund all came up clutch.  It was nice to see Landon and Colton Breitkreutz keep their composure on the mound and deliver solid performances giving the situation against a quality opponent like USA.  Offensively, we had a few opportunities to tie the game, but just couldn’t capitalize, so we’ll keep working to improve our quality at bats and strive to do a better job with our two strike hitting approach.”

B-E will travel to Mahnomen-Waubun next Thursday for a non-conference game.
