The 2023 baseball season proved quite memorable for the Ottertail Central Bulldogs as they went 19-5 overall and won the Park Region Conference with a record of 11-3.  The Bulldogs had a strong finish to the season, winning six straight games and 11 of 12 down the stretch, earning a home playoff game against Fergus Falls, which they won, 2-1.  This OTC team won more game than any team in the history of Ottertail Central baseball.  With 6 players coming back from that squad, optimism is high heading into 2024.

The Bulldogs lost four key players to graduation, including All-Section and All-Conference standout Tyson Misegades, the all-time leader in runs scored and record holder for most hits and most singles in a season, and All-Conference catcher Jayden Harig, the all-time doubles leader for a career and a season.  Hunter Haugen and Garrett Nelson were also lost to graduation.

“We have a good core of our team coming back for the ’24 season,” said Head Coach Ryan Hendrickson.  “We are going to work hard to try to win the conference, push through the section playoffs and advance further than last year.  We are returning our biggest inning eaters on the mound in seniors Lane Dilly (3B, P) and Gavin Pausch (IF, P), and a ton of speed to be ferocious on defense and the bases.  We graduated some offensive studs, so we will have to fill that void, but I am confident we will find those players.”

Dilly and Pausch are joined by fellow senior Noah Link (RF, P), junior Owen Harig (SS, P), and sophomores Drew Evavold (LF, P, C) and Kale Misegades (2B, P, C) as returning starters.

Senior Soren Floden (UT), juniors Eric Fick (OF, P) and Kaleb Hammes (UT, P), and sophomores Ryan Despard (OF) and Ayden Olson (C) will also be counted on for varsity contributions.

Dakota Aeling, Evan Meece, Randy Misegades and Jason Fuchs will assist Coach Hendrickson who is in his 8th year as head coach.

“I believe we can make a push to lead the conference and a make a run for top team in Section 8AA,” said Coach Hendrickson.  “Other top teams in the conference will be New York Mills and Parkers Prairie.  Our section is incredibly competitive with Perham and DGF in the South and Roseau and East Grand Forks from the North.”
