The United Clay Becker track and field team sent 3 relay teams and individuals in 4 events to the Class A State Meet last spring, however, they lost school record holders Bradley Olson (long jump, triple jump) and Tyler Jacobson (shot put) to graduation.  They also graduated Benjamin Geeslin (track at Mankato), Taylor Johnson (track and Crookston), Seth Torgerson (track and Southwest Minnesota State), Sam Senske (basketball at Concordia, Derek Tibbetts (football at MSUM) and John Vetter (football at Concordia.

“We have a lot of holes to fill with so much on-the-track success being lost to graduation,” acknowledged second year Head Coaches Jon Hinrichs, Aaron Haugen and Joe Conrad.  “We really look forward to how our new athletes fit with our returners and how we can put the pieces together to compete with area teams.  Our young kids will struggle initially as they acclimate to competing at a varsity level, but I think by the end of the season we will be competitive in each event.  We have a lot of kids on the roster, so bringing each of them along athletically, as well as off the track, will be indicative of a successful track and field season.”

Returning letter winners include Landon Bakke (mid, distance), Jack Ames (sprints), Drake Dagenais (distance), Thor Erickson (distance), Bridger Larson (distance), Levi Lelm (sprints) and Noah Nelson (mid, distance).  Bakke, Ames, Erickson and Larson will be looked to for leadership roles this season.

Assistant Coaches are Zion Smith and Dylan Olson.

The Coaches see Park Rapids and DGF as the top team sin Section 8A, while DGF and Perham are the Heart O’ Lakes Conference favorites.
