Fergus Falls competed at the Thundering Herd Indoor Track and Field Classic, hosted by NDSU on Monday at the Bison Sports Arena in Fargo. The Otter girls’ placed second with 67.2 points and Carrington, ND won the event with 72 points. Oak Grove Lutheran was third with 58.2, followed by Shanley 55, Valley City 50.2, Perham 49, Central Cass 46, Park Rapids Area 39.2, International Falls 36, Staples-Motley 30, Pelican Rapids 19, Northern Cass 9, Richland 8.5, and Edgeley/Kulm 4.

“With the snow last week, we took an additional Indoor meet at NDSU,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Niki Welde. “We are hoping that the final melt and drying sun and wind allow us to hold our Harrington Early Bird Classic this Thursday. We moved it from Tuesday and we have our fingers crossed! Field events are slated to start at 3:00 and running events at 3:30.”
All three Otter relays stepped up with PRs, placing second in the 4x800, sixth in the 4x200 and sixth in the 4x400. Mayah Fear has bettered her all-time pole vault best two weeks in a row, earning a fourth place finish. She also led the triple jumpers with a third place finish. Senior Ella Starzl took home points in both the long jump and high jump. Ruby Ellison led the high jumpers with her third place finish. Violet McConn took second in the 400 and Estee Versteeg wound up fourth in the 1600. Sarah Grotberg claimed third place in the 3200 and Brynn Blondeau placed sixth in the triple jump.
