M State Baseball Team Loses Twice in Worthington

The M State baseball team lost a double header to Minnesota West on Saturday, falling 9-2 in the opener, and dropping the nightcap, 16-5.  Tyson Barthel and Isaac Hamman each collected two hits in the first game with Hamman and Eoghan Fisher each driving in a run.  Minnesota West had 9 hits in the game with Axell Espino, Haruta Endo, and Joe Zhu each contributing two hits. Endo knocked in 4 runs, going 2-for-4 at the plate.  In the field, the Bluejays turned three double plays.  Triston Sauerbrei (7IP, 6H, 2ER, 5K) was the winning pitcher, recording a complete game.

 

In the second game, Espino (4-5, 2R, Zhu (4-5, 3R, 4RBI, 2B, HR), Robert Reyes (3-4, 2R, 4RBI, 2B), Corwin Laurence (4-4, 2R, 4RBI, 2 2B), Fernando Marte (2-4, 2R, 21B) and Daniel Castro (1-2, R, 2RBI, HR) led the 19 hit attack by the Bluejays.

Evan Lunde (1-2, 2RBI, R, BB, 2B) led the Spartans at the plate.  Barthel and Bryce Kruger each had a single.
