The Fergus Falls girls’ track and field team had a stellar start to their 2024 season, placing second in a 6-team field in Moorhead on Friday night.

“Our distance team led the Otters in points with first and second place performances in the 1600 and 3200 by Estee Versteeg and Cassie Wellman,” reported Fergus Falls Head Coach Niki Welde. “Mayah Fear won the triple jump with a jump bettering her best from last year.”
Violet McConn picked up where she left off in the 400 with an outstanding performance, placing second. Senior Ella Starzl claimed a third place in the long jump, and Ruby Ellison ended up in fourth place in the high jump. Mayah Fear placed fifth in the pole vault.
The 4 x 200 meter relay team, consisting of Siiri Smestad, Rachel DeBrito, Esther Covington, and Ella Starzl, finished in fifth place.
