Alexandria Girls Claim Third Place in 3A State Tournament

The Alexandria girls’ basketball team held Stewartville to 33% shooting as the lady Cards captured third place at the Class AAA Girls State Tournament with a 69-55 victory on Saturday at the Gangelhoff Center on the campus of Concordia University in St. Paul.  The Cardinals led 34-33 at the half and controlled the second half, out-scoring Stewartville 35-22 over the final 18 minutes.

 

Hadley Thul poured in 24 points, making 8-of-10 field goals and all 7 of her free throw attempts.  MaCee Linow and Allie Haabala contributed 17 points each.  Rebound leaders were Chloe Scholl and Kate Hennessy with 8 each.  Haabala had a team high 4 assists.  Alexandria shot 41% (23-56) from the field.

Stewartville was led by Taylor Klement with 18 points and Aubrey Shindelar with 1.  Savannah Hedin had 8 points and a team high 7 rebounds and 3 assists).  Jayci Rath chipped in with 3 assists and 2 steals.

Alexandria ends their season with a record of 26 wins and 5 losses.
