It's been 15 years since Pelican Rapids participated in the State Boys' Basketball Tournament.  In 2009 the Vikings went 33-0 and won the second state title in program history.  Their other championship came 40 years ago, in 1984.

The Vikings turned in a dominant performance at Concordia College in Moorhead on Friday night as they shot 65% from the field in an 82-49 victory over Park Rapids Area.

Pelican Rapids will find out their opponent, the time of their quarterfinal round game, which will be played on Wednesday, and their tournament seed Saturday morning.

"Our guys really came locked in on the game plan tonight and executed it so well on both ends of the floor," stated Pelican Rapids Head Coach John Gullingsrud.  "We shot the ball really well, which was a credit to us doing a nice job of moving the ball against their zone and being ready to shoot when we had space. Defensively, we really flew around and made them take tough, contested shots all night. As coaches, we are so proud of the effort and focus our team played with tonight- it was fun to watch them play!"

Timmy Guler led the Vikings with 22 points and Miguel Torres was also in double figures with a dozen.  Charlie Larson and Ethan isaman added 8 points apiece.

Ryan Carroll paced Park Rapids with 14 points and Noah Larson contributed 9.
